Hi! I'm Alex Currie, Musician and Artist

Alex Currie is a songwriter, mixed-media artist, and community organizer originally from Nova Scotia, now based in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Working across music, collage, illustration, video, and live events, he draws inspiration from memory, place, and the strange details of everyday life. His work grows from a desire to make something meaningful, bring people together, and find joy in the process.

Recording under the name alexjcurrie, Currie blends folk storytelling, lo-fi experimentation, and indie rock. His songs explore family, distance, getting older, and the shifting meaning of home. Coastal towns, dreams, familiar voices, and cherished objects appear throughout his writing, with humour, grief, and unease often sharing the same space. Field recordings and natural sounds weave through the music, grounding these reflections in the places that inspired them.

His 2024 EP, River John (Littleknown Records), and 2025 release, Greetings From…, trace personal history between Nova Scotia and Ontario with an intimate, handmade sensibility. His new full-length album, alexjcurrie, releasing October 15, 2026. Produced, recorded and mixed at slow|go Sound with James Bunton with mastering by Heather Kirby at Dreamlands Mastering. The album marked new intentions and goals to songwriting with a deepening of his collaborative practice.

Currie extended the album into a visual world of collage, handmade imagery, and experimentation. Every song has an accompanying video. He directed all but one and contributed camera work to the other. He also designed all promotional materials for the release night and produced a commercial to play durinf the previews at The Mustang Drive-In, carrying the album’s visual identity into its promotion. On October 15, the Prince Edward County drive-in will host a celebration bringing his music, filmmaking, and design together. The evening begins with a full-album audiovisual screening on the giant screen, followed by a live performance by Currie and his band, The Opportunity, from the beds of pickup trucks. A screening of John Carpenter’s They Live closes the night.

Beyond his music, Currie is known for his distinctive posters, collages, digital illustrations, screen prints, and experimental videos. His artwork has appeared at concerts, events, galleries, magazines and independent venues throughout Prince Edward County and across Canada. Guided by the philosophy, Don’t worry about how. Just start and figure it out later, Alex’s work is rooted in participation, experimentation, and making things happen. Across his creative life, the impulse remains consistent: make something honest, share it, and see who connects.

Alex is co-founder of The Radiator Collective, a Prince Edward County arts and music collective that presents exhibitions and live performances throughout the year, including VOIDfest. Over the past three years, the collective has created much-needed opportunities for local musicians and artists while bringing established acts to the County that might otherwise pass it by. Its events have also raised funds for local organizations and strengthened community connections through music and art

Across his creative life, the impulse remains consistent: make something honest, share it, and see who connects.
